About Me

The short version
I am Alex Pfeffer, a music composer from Hamburg, Germany with over 20 years of experience in media music. My work spans film trailers, AAA video games, and 60+ TV shows worldwide. Today I am using everything I learned building a creative career to help other businesses grow through systematic growth engineering.
Where it started
In 1998 I packed my bags and headed to the Los Angeles College of Music to study. That experience shaped everything that followed. After returning to Germany, I went on to work with some of the biggest names in trailer and production music: Two Steps from Hell, Epic Score, Liquid Cinema, Gothic Storm, and Position Music.
My music has been featured in trailers for Pacific Rim, Sherlock Holmes, and Harry Potter, and is broadcast on over 60 TV shows around the world.
Game music
In the game industry, I worked for Dynamedion and my credits include CHORUS, Company of Heroes 3, Crysis 2, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Sacred 2, Galaxy on Fire 3, The Settlers VII, ANNO 1404, John Woo's Stranglehold, and many more. I have also collaborated with Mick Gordon (DOOM 2016), Trevor Morris (The Tudors), and Frank Peterson (Sarah Brightman), and contributed to countless top-tier sample libraries.
The transition
Somewhere along the way, I noticed a pattern. The composers who thrived long term were not necessarily the most talented. They were the most systematic. They had reliable client pipelines, efficient delivery processes, and clear positioning. I became obsessed with these systems.
I started building them for my own career, then for other composers through my Audio Artist Academy and Audio Artist Rise programs. Then I realized the principles were universal: any creative business could benefit from systematic thinking about growth.
What I do now
Today I work at the intersection of creativity and systems. I still compose. I still mentor composers. But increasingly, I am applying the same precision and discipline that goes into writing a film score to growth engineering: building repeatable, measurable systems that help creative businesses scale.
This blog is where I share what I am learning along the way. Posts about growth strategy, the creative business landscape, and the skills that transfer from one world to the other.
